Early Childhood Center

South Loop Early Childhood Center is a full day high quality preschool program for children ages three and four. The program is committed to creating a strong educational foundation that is necessary for children to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
The program provides a cross-curricular interactive and hands-on approach to activities that promote learning and development in the following areas: social, emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, math, science, social studies, and technology. Through these concrete experiences the children are developing independence, problem-solving skills, social skills, and a life long love for learning.
The program uses a comprehensive literacy curriculum that promotes and develops vocabulary skills, comprehension, phonics, and oral language through engaging, rich and meaningful activities.
The preschool is housed at the South Loop Elementary School Branch building at 1915 S. Federal Street in Chicago.
Registration Information
Program Information:
- Interested parents will be placed on a prospective parent wait list. Please attend one of our open houses.
- Families on the prospective parent list will be notified by letter or phone when his/her child has been accepted into the program. After acceptance into the program the parent/guardian will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit and fill out the required paper work at the Early Childhood Center. The program accepts children on a first come first serve basis. The acceptance process begins after February 1st and will go until all slots are filled.
- This is a Tuition-Based Preschool (TBP) and is not grant funded, therefore, it requires tuition payments for all children attending the program.
- Busing is not available.
- A full-day (8:00am - 6:00pm) program is offered.
Program Eligibility:
- Children must be at least three years of age but not yet five on or before September 1st of the current school year.
- Children must be potty trained before attending the program.
- Families must reside within District 299 boundaries in the City of Chicago.
- Parents must agree to sign a one-year program agreement.
- Tuition is required in advance of service with a non-refundable deposit at time of registration.

- Child's birth certificate
- Complete physical exam with required lab work
- Up-to-date immunization record (shot card)
- Completed CPS Preschool Application (available at branch building)
- Completed CPS Parent Agreement Form (available at branch building)
