Social Events

Snowflake Ball

At Elementary School we believe that social and emotional development of students is important to helping them achieve success. Though a variety of activities, students are provided with some out of classroom time to mix and mingle with other students. Some of these activities include:

Back to School Picnic
Free Grades PreK - 8th Date: September

There is nothing like a good old-fashioned barbeque to bring people together. So at the beginning of each school year, our Elementary School family gathers in the park adjacent to the school for food, games and socializing. It also provides families an opportunity to review options for volunteering or to shop our Uniform Resale Shop.

Ice Cream Social
Free Grades PreK - 8th Date: September

At our annual beginning of the year Teacher Meet and Greet, students and their families get a chance to get to know each other at the Family Involvement Group (FIG) Ice Cream Social, held in the school cafeteria.

Fall Festival
Free Grades PreK - 8th Date: October

To celebrate fall and Halloween, our Family Involvement Group sponsors an annual Fall Festival.  Past festivals have featured a screening of a Halloween movie along with popcorn and refreshments for our families.

School Winter Dances
Free Grades PreK - 8th Dates: December

School students love to dance, and what better way for them to develop their social skills than coming together for a dance in the school gymnasium. Students are encouraged to put on their best clothes for the event, and make plans with their friends to attend. Admission is a new book. There are three dances based on age level.

Hoops, Games, Movies and More!
Fee Based Grades PreK - 8th Date: Fall/Winter

The SLES Dads' Club sponsors an evening of hoops, games and movies for the children who attend SLES. Pizza and water are provided. Advanced registration is required. All proceeds from the event benefit Friends and Family of School School. For more information, contact Jason Ziegler .

Scholastic Book Fair
Fee Based Grades PreK - 8th Dates: Fall/Spring

Students get a taste of what it is like to go shopping with their classmates, and make purchasing choices by building their wish list of books at our Scholastic Book Fair. Parents can meet up with their child at the end of the day to review their selections and determine what they want to purchase. It is also a good chance for parents to shop for holiday presents or help a teacher fill their classroom wishlist! This fundraiser benefits the school with both book donations from Scholastic and return of a portion of the proceeds.

Literacy Night
Free Grades PreK - 8th Date: December

Literacy Night, a Family Involvement Group event, marks the end of our Scholastic Book Fair and celebrates books with themed activities.

Daddy Daughter Dance
