South Loop – A True Community School

South Loop is more than a school. It’s a diverse learning community of students, families and educational leaders who value and support a high-quality learning environment for everyone.

picsOur vision is to effectively respond to the academic, artistic, social and emotional needs of all students, while preparing them for a global society in which they can live intellectually rich lives after graduation.

Our mission is to continue to be a dynamic neighborhood community school with a Regional Gifted Center, Early Childhood Center and Fine Arts program that enhances our strong academic programs.

Excellence is expected from all of our students. Our staff and parents are also held to high standards as partners in our students’ education. Families play a huge role in the success of the school. South Loop parents volunteer their time during school as well as before and after school.

We also offer meaningful before-school and after-school programs to keep students engaged in positive creative pursuits and involved with the community around them. Our extensive programs begin as early as 8 am and run as late as 8 pm, giving our students and parents ample opportunity to benefit from all that we have to offer. Available programs focus on the following areas:

  • Academic (i.e., After-school Counts, Homework Hour, Science Club)
  • Performance (i.e., Drama, Dance, Opera for All, Hip-Hop)
  • Athletics (i.e., Golf, Basketball, Football, Volleyball)
  • Fine Arts (i.e., Violin, Cello, Piano, Band)
  • Social & Emotional Support (i.e., Ada S. McKinley, Boys Rights of Passage)

picsIf you already have a child enrolled as a student, use this site as a resource. It will keep you in the “Loop” on school events and offer you the most direct access to your child’s teachers.

If you’re interested in enrolling your child in South Loop School, you’ll find useful information here about applying to our school.

If you have any questions about our school, please call us at 773-534-8690. We look forward to your family joining our learning community very soon.
