The Volunteer Task Force is recruiting room parents for the 2011-2012 school year.

Although the primary responsibilities as a room parent are determined in consultation with each teacher, below are some general guidelines for the role:

·   Complete the email and phone contact list for your classroom and help ensure that all parents have the opportunity to sign up for and receive the official South Loop School email blasts; 

·   Coordinate a "Meet & Greet" for classroom parents;

·   Serve as a resource for classroom parents and act as a liaison between the classroom teacher and parents;

·   Solicit volunteers and donations for classroom activities as requested by the teacher;

·   Answer school-related questions for classroom parents; and 

·   Communicate pertinent school and classroom news and volunteer opportunities to parents as necessary.

New for next year is the addition of one additional room parent for the group of auxiliary teachers(band, art, gym, library etc.) to help these teachers communicate with the school population for events, obtain needed supplies, etc. (To be clear, this is simply one additional room parent, not one additional room parent per grade.)
